Trump’s Odds See a Small Improvement; Poll Showing Cuban Ahead of Trump in Texas Improves his Odds; Cruz’s Odds Improve on Speculation he May Primary Trump; LA Mayor Garcetti Admits Considering a Run

Donald Trump’s odds saw a small improvement with the payout moving from 3.30X to 3.28X, exactly where it was two weeks ago.  It has been between 3.25X and 3.30X for the last 10 weeks and it’s little under the combined odds of his next four competitors combined.

Mark Cuban saw a slight bump from a poll released showing he leads Trump head to head in Texas for President. The payout for putting money on Cuban improved from 55.9X to 54.3X.  That is the best he has been since July.  He is in 29th place overall.

Close to Cuban’s odds are the odds for Ted Cruz.  His payout improved from 62.0X to 60.5X which is good enough for 32nd place.  He’s thought to be one of the most likely Republicans to primary Trump should Trump be hurt by the midterms or should the Russia probe result in anything substantial.

There is not a lack of Democratic candidates that seem to be popping up in California.  The flavor of the week this week is Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti.  His payout improved from 70.5X to 63.0X.  That was enough to move him from 38th place to 34th place.  That is the highest he has been and came on the heels of Garcetti admitting he is considering a run to Univision.

Donald Trump Sees Small Dip in Odds; Sanders Reaches New High; Gillibrand Continues Hot Streak; Newsom Making Waves

Donald Trump’s odds saw a slight drop as his payout increased from 3.28X to 3.30X.  These are his lowest odds in five weeks. He remains more than three times as likely as the next competitor.

Bernie Sanders’ odds improved as his payout dropped from 18.0X to 16.9X.  Although Sanders remains in fifth place overall, these are the best odds he has had this entire cycle.

The hottest name of the last few weeks continued to be Kirsten Gillibrand.  The Senator from NY has seen an improvement for three straight weeks driven by her stance against sexual assault.  Her payout dropped this week from 36.4X to 33.3X.  She was at 47.7X just four weeks ago.

One unknown that made a move is Gavin Newsom.  The 50 year old Democrat is currently the Lt. Governor of CA.  Prior to that he was the mayor of SF.  A recent poll shows him as the leader to become the governor of CA in 2018. Newsom’s payout was at 50.8X two weeks ago and has since improved to 37.1X.  That has allowed him to jump up from 22nd place to 14th place.

Donald Trump Continues to Have Large Lead; Kirsten Gillibrand’s Odds Jump as she Calls for the President to Step Down; Biden up on Hill Apology; Rubio up Child Credit Request

Donald Trump’s odds stayed flat to last week coming in at 3.28X.  He remains more than three times more likely to win the presidency as any candidate, although his odds have fallen over the last year.  At this time last year, Trump was at 2.58X, or 21% more likely.

The big mover on the week was once again Kirsten Gillibrand.  The Senator from NY called for the President to resign this week and the President bit the bait and took her on.  That increased her profile once again and likewise her odds. This week she improved from 45.8X to 36.4X.  That moved her from 18th place to 12th place.

Joe Biden apologized to Anita Hill for not doing more in the 1991 Thomas Hearings.  It looks like that was taken as a sign that he will be running in 2020.  Biden’s odds moved from 25.6X last week to 24X this week.  That was enough to move him from 8th place to 7th place.

Marco Rubio stated he will not support the tax bill without changes to the child credit.  Many see this as a play to improve his odds for 2020.    His odds improved from 47.1X to 42.6X.  That moved him from 20th place to 19th place (4th among Republicans).
