Trump’s Odds Continue to Hit New Highs; Biden Might Be Toughest Opponent; Bullock Continues to Raise Profile; Could a Business Leader Beat Trump?

Trump’s odds continued to improve this week despite what again seemed to be a bad week in the news.  This week tapes of Trump and his lawyer Cohen discussing a payoff surfaced, and he once again reached a new high as far as odds.  He improved from 2.38X to 2.35X. This is a new all time high and he has now either been flat or improved for 18 straight weeks.

Another person reaching an all time high this week is Joe Biden who improved from 14.3X to 14.1X.  Axios reports Biden is the one person Trump fears the most as he may flip Pennsylvania.  Biden has seen slow but steady improvement since the end of the 2016 elections.

One less known name that is raising his profile is Montana Governor Steve Bullock.  He is the next chairman of the National Governors Association and gives Democrats a way to get back the rural voters that seem to have left the party.

Will Trump’s competition in 2020 come from another business leader?  One Republican super PAC seems to think so and is busy digging up dirt on those business leaders.  Of the leaders mentioned in the article, the tops as far as odds are:

  • Jamie Dimon in 11th place at 44.3X
  • Howard Schultz in 14th place at 52.5X
  • Bob Iger in 36th place at 81.0X
  • Mark Cuban in 49th place at 99.8X

Donald Trump’s Odds reach a New High; Once Hot Opponents Continue to See Drops Including Obama, Kennedy, and Zuckerberg

Donald Trump’s odds reached a new high at 2.40X.  He was at 2.45X the previous week.  The previous high was at 2.41X all the way back at the start of Jan 2017 (pre-inauguration). He has nearly 5 times the odds of his nearest competitor Kamala Harris who is at 11.5.

Most other competitors saw drops this week including:

Michelle Obama who dropped from 33.2X to 34.4X.  She remains in 10th place but has seen her odds drop from 30.1X four weeks ago.

Joe Kennedy gave an interview and mentioned he’s not looking ahead to 2020.  He has been dropping  recently from 57.4X last week and 39.7X six weeks ago to the current 60.8X.  That has taken him from 11th overall six weeks ago to 28th this week.

Mark Zuckerberg has also seen a significant drop the past few weeks.  He was at 44.8X and 16th place just five weeks ago.  He dropped to 34th place last week (70.4X) and 39th place this week (83.1X)

Trump’s Odds Close to Post Election Highs; Obama Meets Top 2020 Candidates; Bob Iger Makes Debut

Donald Trump finally met with Korean dictator Kim Jong-un and that seemed to help his odds as they jumped from 2.68X to 2.47X, his highest since January 2017.  He is very close to his peak odds of 2.41X which he reached the first week of January 2017.

Former President Barack Obama met with 10 potential 2020 candidates. The top candidates he met with:

  • Bernie Sanders 2nd overall at 11.6X
  • Joe Biden 4th place at 14.6X
  • Elizabeth Warren 5th place at 14.6X
  • Cory Booker 9th place at 30.0X
  • Deval Patrick 22nd place at 54.7X

Although it is unlikely Obama endorses any of the candidates during the primary, they will likely try to connect themselves as much as possible to the popular ex President, and these meetings are just a part of that.

Interestingly one person missing from that list is Kamala Harris who is third overall at 11.7X.

One new name on the list is Bob Iger.  Although there was no news related to the Disney CEO and 2020 elections, two websites added odds for him at 41X this week.  That gave him enough odds to qualify for our standings.  He makes his debut at 41.8X which puts him in 11th place just ahead of fellow CEO Jamie Dimon and just behind Michelle Obama.
