Trump’s odds improve to best in 9 weeks; Sanders remains hot name, reaches new high; Hickenlooper officially announces, quickly raises money; Four high profile candidates officially out

Trump’s odds improved from 2.91X to 2.86X. Although this may not seem like a big improvement, it’s the best odds he has had in 9 weeks. To keep things in perspective, his high for the cycle is 2.31X in August 2018.

Bernie Sanders is currently the hot candidate on the left. He jumped up from 9.18X to 7.06X, a new high for him. This was enough to have him jump the yet undecided Joe Biden (8.39X) for 3rd place. He is just behind Kamala Harris (6.73X) for the Democratic lead. Sanders signed the “Democratic Loyalty Pledge” this week.

John Hickenlooper officially announced his candidacy on Monday and his odds jumped from 73.6X to 66.4X. That was enough for him tomove from 21st place to 14th place. He became the fourth Democrat to raise over $1 million within hours of his announcement.

Trump’s odds stabilize post shutdown; “Tough Boss” Klobuchar’s odds improve as she makes it official; Bloomberg to spend $500 million to defeat Trump whether he runs or not; Yang’s universal income idea increases profile, ups odds

Donald Trump’s odds had a slight increase moving from 2.96X to 2.92X. His odds seem to have stabilized post government shutdown landing in a range of 2.90X to 2.96X the last five weeks. He was at 2.43X in mid November prior to the government shutdown talks.

Amy Klobuchar made it official this week as stories came out about her “tough boss” persona. It made for some interesting interviews where she seems to have embraced the reputation rather than back away from it. Her odds once again improved, this time from 24.6X to 18.5X. This was enough to move her to 6th place, ahead of one-time darling of the left Elizabeth Warren. This is a new high for the Democratic Senator from MN.

Michael Bloomberg is prepared to spend $500 million to defeat Trump whether he runs or not. That’s less than 1% of his reported net worth. His odds improved from 32.1X to 28.3X and he moved up from 12th place to 9th place.

Andrew Yang is a little known Democratic Candidate that seems to have found a way to up his profile. His idea to ensure every American has an income of at least $1,000 a month landed him in Time this week. The increase in publicity has helped him have the highest jump of anyone this week. His odds moved from 169.4X to 127X. That was enough to have him jump from 81st place to 63rd.

Donald Trump’s Odds Lowest in 6 Months; O’Rourke Close to Taking 2nd Place; Biden “Most Qualified” for President; Bloomberg Meets with Iowa Democrats

Donald Trump’s odds dropped for the fourth straight week moving from 2.56X to 2.61X.  These are his lowest odds in 6 months.  He is still higher than his lowest odds of this cycle which were at 3.46X  in September 2017.

The hottest name continues to be Beto O’Rourke.  His odds rose once again, this time from 9.37X to 8.22X.  He is very close to passing Kamala Harris for second place overall.  Kamala Harris is at 7.86X, and has been improving each week, but not at the pace of O’Rourke.  O’Rourke landed a big Obama fundraiser this week.

Joe Biden is “the most qualified person in the country to be president”……this according to Joe Biden. His odds jumped from 19.3X to 16.9X. This was enough to jump Elizabeth Warren for 4th place overall.  These are his highest odds in 3 months.

Michael Bloomberg continues to take small steps that signal he’s running.  This week, he met privately with top Iowa Democrats. His odds improved once again, this time from 32.6X to 30.2X.  That was enough to move him to 8th place overall.
