Updated VP Odds: Warren Overtakes Castro for the Dems; Sessions and Gingrich Still Favorites for Rep; Kasich and Becerra Enter the Picture

On the Republican side, the same two remained odds on favorites: Jeff Sessions (27.2%) and Newt Gingrich (17.3%).

Joni Ernst remained the far off third place candidate at 7.0%.

The surprise entry was John Kasich at 6.8% (tied with Chris Christie for 4th).  According to this commentary, he’d be a good candidate as he’d fit the “not crazy” profile and help with a must get state in Ohio.

For the Democrats, previous front runner Julian Castro dropped to third as a surging Elizabeth Warren overtook him (up from 14.7% to 22.1%)

Tim Kaine held steady at 17.9% and he is thought to be Clinton’s “Safe” Choice.
Julian Castro (down to 16.4% from 23.2%) and Tom Perez (9.4%) round out the top 4.
A new name enters in the fifth spot in CA rep Xavier Becerra.  Here he is answering the question on whether he is being vetted for the position.
